Documentation of Disability in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Is there a gold tool to measure disability in RA with its full spectrum? Which assessment tool is the closest one to the actual experience of disability? In an era where complete remission is targeted, questions such as these have been central to research in rheumatology. The first version of documentary is a response to this increasing interest in ways to understand and represent disability in RA. It is initiated and developed by a patient, as an example of patient's active involvement in research via the supervision of rheumatologists. The film communicates the day-to-day experience of RA-related disabilities which remains rather untold during doctor-patient encounter and unrepresented in the outcome measures.

Documentation of Disability in Rheumatoid Arthritis has so far been screened at the following gatherings:

Misfires that Matter: Subtle Disabilities in Everyday Life Practices

Impairments in RA become physically apparent after years of progressive disease. This also means that the disabling impacts of RA on everyday life also remain invisible to the public and are underestimated by them. The second version of documentary targets at the society including patients themselves, their families, employers, and policy-makers. Its unique aim is to raise a global awareness in the population of having to live with RA-related disabilities. I am welcoming requests from foundations, charities, humanitarian organizations and other related institutions to screen this version of documentary during their gatherings.
